
Marketing and Event Intern
Position Overview
Cancer Support Community Iowa & NW Illinois is seeking a motivated and creative Marketing and Event Intern to assist in enhancing our outreach efforts and event coordination. This is a fantastic opportunity for students or individuals passionate about nonprofit work, marketing, and community engagement to gain hands-on experience while making a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities

Marketing Support:
- Design and create engaging flyers, social media posts, and promotional materials to increase awareness of events and programs.
- Develop and schedule content for social media platforms to build a consistent and engaging online presence.
- Assist in drafting and executing e-mail campaigns to promote events, programs, and organizational updates.
- Assist in the creation, editing, and distribution of the monthly program calendar to ensure it accurately reflects upcoming events and programs.
- Collaborate with program staff to gather accurate details and updates for the calendar.

Event Planning Assistance:
- Support the Event and Communications Manager in all aspects of event planning and execution, including logistics, vendor coordination, and volunteer management.
- Help maintain event timelines, checklists, and budgets to ensure smooth execution.
- Assist with on-site event activities, such as registration, setup, and breakdown, as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders to support marketing and event initiatives.
- Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to improve future events and campaigns.
Qualifications
- Pursuing or holding a degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficient in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok etc.).
- Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- A passion for making a difference in the lives of individuals impacted by cancer.
